Board Positions Print

President - The President shall:

• Conduct the affairs of the Local League and execute the policies established by the Board of Directors.
• Present a report of the condition of the Local League at the Annual Meeting.
• Communicate to the Board of Directors such matters as deemed appropriate, and make such suggestions as may tend to promote the welfare of the Local League.
• Be responsible for the conduct of the Local League in strict conformity to the policies, principles, Rules and Regulations of Little League Baseball, Incorporated, as agreed to under the conditions of charter issued to the Local League by that organization.
• Designate in writing other officers, if necessary, to have power to make and execute for/and in the name of the Local League such contracts and leases they may receive and which have had prior approval of the Board.
• Investigate complaints, irregularities and conditions detrimental to the Local League and report thereon to the Board or Executive Committee as circumstances warrant.
• Prepare and submit an annual budget to the Board of Directors and be responsible for the proper execution thereof.
• With the assistance of the Player Agent, examine the application and support proof-of-age documents of every player candidate and certify to residence and age eligibility before the player may be accepted for evaluation and selection.
• Preside at all meetings of the membership and at all meetings of the directors.
• Assure that all personnel connected with the program are properly briefed concerning the Articles and By-laws of the Local League, and the rules, regulations, and polices of Little League Baseball, Inc.
• Together with the Secretary, sign all contracts binding upon, and accept all bids in the name of the Local League.
• Sign checks or drafts upon the depository of the Local League.

Vice President - The Vice President shall:

• Perform the duties of the President in the absence or disability of the President, provided he or she is authorized by the President or Board so to act. When so acting, the Vice President shall have all the powers of that office.
• Perform such duties as from time to time may be assigned by the Board of Directors or by the President.
• In absence of the President, with the treasurer sign all checks or drafts drawn upon the depository of the Local League.
• Serve as Chairman of the All Star Selection Committee.
• Optionally serve as ex-officio member of all committees or coordinator position.

Secretary - The Secretary shall:

• Be responsible for recording the activities of the Local League and maintain appropriate files, mailing lists and necessary records.
• Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth, in addition to such other duties as are customarily incident to the office of Secretary or as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.
• Maintain a list of all Regular, Sustaining and Honorary Members, Directors and committee members and give notice of all meetings of the Local League, the Board of Directors and committees.
• Keep the minutes of the meetings of the Members, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, and cause them to be recorded in a book kept for that purpose.
• Conduct all correspondence not otherwise specifically delegated in connection with said meeting and shall be responsible for carrying out all orders, votes and resolutions not otherwise committee
• Notify Members, Directors, Officers and committee members of their election or appointment.
• Together with the President, sign all contracts binding upon, and accept all bids in the name of the Local League.

Treasurer - The Treasurer shall:

• Perform such duties as are herein set forth and such other duties as are customarily incident to the Office of Treasurer or may be assigned by the Board of Directors.
• Receive all monies and securities, and deposit same in a depository approved by the Board of Directors.
• Keep records for the receipt and disbursement of all monies and securities of the Local League, approve all payments from allotted funds and draw checks therefore in agreement with policies established in advance of such actions by the Board of Directors. All disbursements by check must have dual signatures.
• Prepare an annual budget, under the direction of the President, for submission to the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting.
• Prepare an annual financial report, under the direction of the President, for submission to the Membership and Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting, and to Little League Headquarters.
• Pay out such monies as may be authorized by the Board of Directors, providing that both the Treasurer and the one other member of the executive board shall sign all checks and drafts drawn upon the depository of the Local League.

Player Agent - The Player Agent shall:

• Along with all Division Directors, record ensure all player transactions and maintain an accurate and up-to-date record thereof.
• Receive and review applications for player candidates and assist the President in verifying residence and age eligibility.
• Conduct the evaluation, the player draft and all other player transaction or selection meetings.
• Serve on the All Star Selection committee
• Prepare for the President’s signature and submission to Little League Headquarters, team rosters, including players claimed, and the tournament team eligibility affidavit.
• Notify Little League Headquarters of any subsequent player replacements or trades.

Safety Officer - The Safety Officer shall:

• Be responsible to create awareness, through education and information, of the opportunities to provide a safer environment for youngsters and all participants of Little League Baseball.
• Develop and implement a plan for increasing safety of activities, equipment and facilities through education, compliance and reporting, and submit the ASAP plan to Little League Baseball annually.
• NOTE: In order to implement a safety plan using education, compliance and reporting, the following suggestions may be utilized by the Safety Officer:

o Education – Should facilitate meetings and distribute information among participants including players, managers, coaches, umpires, league officials, parents, guardians and other volunteers.
o First Aid and CPR training schedule and reporting
o Compliance – Should promote safety compliance leadership by increasing awareness of the safety opportunities that arise from these responsibilities.
o Reporting – Define a process to assure that incidents are recorded, information is sent to league/district and national offices, and follow-up information on medical and other data is forwarded as available.

Umpire in Chief - The Umpire In Chief shall:

• Be responsible for the selection, training and assessment of umpires for the Local League.
• Be responsible for the securing of proper and regulation equipment through the equipment director
• Be responsible for scheduling umpires for games.
• Be responsible for selection of all-star umpires for all post-season games and Fall Ball.

Director of Fundraising - The Director of Fundraising shall:

• Be responsible for securing sign sponsors and keep sponsors informed of league activities.
• Follow-up with all sponsors with Canastota Little League promotional letter, picture, etc..
• Be responsible for all fundraising events

Director of Grounds - The Director of Grounds shall:

• Be responsible for organizing clean-up days and schedule the work time on the fields
• Be responsible for the upkeep of the league facilities year round.
• Be responsible for the purchase of maintenance equipment with approval of the Board.
• Make recommendations to the Board of Directors for improvements or repairs.
• Prepare an annual budget to be submitted to the Board of Directors outlining planned spending for the physical year.
• Hire one (1) grounds keeper to maintain all playing surfaces for all games for all fields.

Director of Equipment - The Director of equipment shall:

• Be responsible for the distribution of all uniforms and playing equipment
• Be responsible for the upkeep and repair of all playing and practice equipment.
• Be responsible for the purchase of equipment and uniforms with approval of the Board.

Director of Concessions - The Director of Concessions shall:

• Be responsible for the operation of the snack bar to include the scheduling of help, procurement of food and drink, cleanliness of the facilities and maintenance and repair.
• Be responsible to organize and oversee the Concession’s committee.

Director of Public Relations - The Director of Public Relations shall:

• Be responsible for coordinating with each league and division to ensure that all necessary information concerning games and activities are reported.
• Be responsible for communicating with parents.
• Be responsible for communicating with the local media, submitting ads, keeping the Local Leagues accomplishments in the community local media
• Be responsible for communicating photos to the media

T-Ball League Coordinator - The T-Ball League Coordinator shall:

• Be directly responsible for the organization and operation of the T-Ball league.
• Organize and supervise the conduct of any player development.
• Be responsible for coordinating with the Director of Baseball a practice schedule and game schedule for all managers.

Coaches’ Pitch League Coordinator - The Coaches’ Pitch League Coordinator shall:

• Be directly responsible for the organization and operation of the Coaches’ Pitch league.
• Organize and supervise the conduct of any player development.
• Be responsible for coordinating with the Director of Baseball a practice schedule and game schedule for all managers.

Minor Baseball / Softball Division Coordinator(s) - The Minors Division Coordinator(s) shall:

• Be directly responsible for the organization and operation of the Minors league.
• Organize and supervise the conduct of any player evaluations or player training.
• Be responsible for selecting Managers and Coaches with final approval from the President.
• Assist the Player Agent during the annual draft, and keeping players within league boundaries.
• Be responsible for coordinating with the league scheduling coordinator.
• Create a practice schedule for all managers.
• Coordinate the selection of the All Star teams for each league.
• Handle all league player replacements and assignments throughout the season with final approval of the player agent.

Majors Baseball / Softball Division Coordinator(s) - The Majors Division Coordinator(s) shall:

• Be directly responsible for the organization and operation of the Minors league.
• Organize and supervise the conduct of any player evaluations or player training.
• Be responsible for selecting Managers and Coaches with final approval from the President.
• Assist the Player Agent during the annual draft, and keeping players within league boundaries.
• Be responsible for coordinating with the league scheduling coordinator.
• Create a practice schedule for all managers.
• Coordinate the selection of the All Star teams for each league.
• Handle all league player replacements and assignments throughout the season with final approval of the player agent.

Additional Baseball/Softball Division Coordinator(s) - The Juniors Division Coordinator(s) shall:

• Be directly responsible for the organization and operation of the Minors league.
• Organize and supervise the conduct of any player evaluations or player training.
• Be responsible for selecting Managers and Coaches with final approval from the President.
• Assist the Player Agent during the annual draft, and keeping players within league boundaries.
• Be responsible for coordinating with the league scheduling coordinator.
• Create a practice schedule for all managers.
• Coordinate the selection of the All Star teams for each league.
• Handle all league player replacements and assignments throughout the season with final approval of the player agent.

Fall Baseball Coordinator - The Fall Baseball Coordinator shall:

• Be directly responsible for the organization and operation of the Fall Baseball league.
• Organize and supervise the conduct of any player evaluations or player training.
• Be responsible for selecting Managers and Coaches with final approval from the President.
• Assist the Player Agent during the annual draft, and keeping players within league boundaries.
• Be responsible for coordinating with the league scheduling coordinator.
• Create a practice schedule for all managers.
• Handle all league player replacements and assignments throughout the season

League Information Officer - The League Information Officer shall:

• Manage the league’s home page.
• Manage the online registration process and ensure that league rosters are maintained on the site.
• Assign admin rights to league volunteers and teams.
• Ensure that league news and scores are updated on a regular basis.
• Collect, post and distribute important information on League activities including direct dissemination of fundraising and sponsor activities to Little League International, the public, league members and media.
• Serves as primary contact person for Little League regarding optimizing use of the Internet for league administration and distributing information to league members and to Little League Baseball, Incorporated.
